Andy Goldsworthy

Andy W. told me about Andy Goldsworthy last year. Goldsworthy is an “environmental artist” whose work is extremely ephemeral- he creates sculptures in nature, using all natural elements such as stone, wood, flowers, ice, and leaves. He is considered the first of the modern “stone balancers” (you’ve seen their handwork anytime you’ve gone hiking), but most of his works exist in photograph form only, as they are destroyed or fall apart soon after he makes them. There are a ton of great photos of his work here, here, and here, so If you like the picture above there are a lot more cool things to see. |
