Go Bob Go!

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Psycho Bob episode 4 is making some serious waves over on Youtube and StupidVideos right now- it has been featured on there and on Revver so far this week, and has broken through everyone’s favorite first milestone for a video- 100,000 views. So far the ratings are through the roof and the comments are either very positive or very negative, but honestly, if you don’t like them… stop watching… Sometimes people on the internet just amuse me. It comes as no surprise that “Bob Adopts A Dog” is universally everyone’s least favorite (there is a cardinal sin in filmmaking- hurt a dog, and you lose the audience), but in some ways it is one of my favorites. I think honestly I just like ruffling people’s feathers, and Bob is the best vehicle for that ever. So the series is definitely going to continue, I am editing ep.5 right now and am about to hand it over to Joe for him to do his sound magic on it. Expect a new episode every other week from here on out!  If you want to receive each new episode the second we post it automagically, subscribe to the podcast.

Psycho Bob And The Hitchhikers

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Ep. 4 of everyone’s favorite AV Club series [about a psychopath named Bob in the style of a Sunday comic strip] has arrived! In this week’s episode, Bob goes for a ride in the desert, and picks up some traveling companions along the way to keep himself company.

The response to this series continues to grow, and remains overwhelmingly positive, which has led to new episodes entering into the production cycle! If you like Psycho Bob, then rest easy, there are more than the original 6 episodes now on the production slate. Tell your friends, tell your enemies- spread the word about this show to anyone who has a dark sense of humor, as enjoying Bob requires it. The more people you pass this on to, the more episodes we can make, so it’s a help us help you kind of thing.

Psycho Bob Goes To The Beach

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

Episode 3 of “Psycho Bob” has arrived! In this week’s episode, Bob goes to the beach to catch some rays and enjoy the view. So far this series has been doing pretty well, featured on StupidVideos, Revver, Veoh, Transbuddha, Ticklebooth, and No Fat Clips, with many other sites linking to it… so guess what? We’re making more than the 6 we already shot! Thanks to everyone who has helped to get the word out about the series, and especially to those who have given us feedback on the series so far. If you want to do us a favor, send bob to every living being you know.

Psycho Bob Begins Now

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Psycho Bob. This short web series is an experimentation by the AV Club to create a video equivalent of a Sunday comic strip. “Psycho Bob” details the ongoing adventures of Bob, a psychopath who is to mass-murder what Denis The Menace is to breaking things. There are currently 6 episodes planned in the series, but depending on how it goes we may make a lot more, so let us know what you think!

Bob is played by Sean Bury of Invisible Engine, and the series stars a lot of cast and crew members from other AV Club projects. I directed and edited each episode. Craig Bauer shot all but one, which was shot by Andy Waruszewkski. Roy Geva created Bob’s theme song, which is a more than appropriate take on the twisted mind of this character. Joe Tsai edited and mixed the sound for each episode, and Chris Ellerby did the opening and closing titlecards.

As each episode is released, I will give more detailed information on the production and behind the scenes goings on, so stay tuned to this space for more updates.
