Clay’s Achin’
September 7th, 2006 by Andrew Cochrane|
There is a bit of chatter today about how weird it is that Clay Aiken is possibly going to be appointed to the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Most of the talk seems to focus on the fact that Aiken is the one being selected, I think that the focus has been put in the wrong place. What is really important to note is that the Bush Administration has a “President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities”: is Bush not only the President, but also a member? I love that it used to be called President’s Panel on Mental Retardation when it was founded under JFK. I guess its cool to have an Idol wash out doing something productive with their lives, but what a bizarre thing to be making headlines. It was too long a title to use for a post, but I wanted to title this entry: “The President’s Committee For Kids Who Can’t Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Too” |
