Crazy Mice

Spulch pointed me towards a news story that I am amazed I did not hear about myself: scientists have created schizophrenic mice:

The mice were created by modifying their DNA to mimic a mutant gene first found in a Scottish family with a high incidence of schizophrenia, which affects about one in every 100 people. The mice’s brains were found to have features similar to those of humans with schizophrenia, such as depression and hyperactivity.

I have several questions that the article does not address, namely: how do you know if a mouse is depressed? Also, does this mean we now know what causes schizophrenia? And if so, is there a cure on the way?

I would now like to take a second, while I am on the topic, to point out that despite what everyone who writes movies thinks, schizophrenia and multiple personalities have nothing to do with eachother, and you look like idiots when confuse them. There. That one bothers me more than it should.
