My God.

The tape door opened, the mechanism started to come up, then it jammed and went back in. WTF? I spent a panicked 1/2hr trying to get the tape out, begging, pleading with it to not do this to me, not now, not when I finally was on my way. I tried everything I could short of breaking the damn thing, and I could not get the tape to eject. So now I can’t capture AND my work’s camera is broken. If there is a higher being, he/she/it/they hate me so much. I brought the camera in and almost everyone here has taken a swing at fixing it. The consensus is that it would cost more to repair than is worth it, so I don’t know what to do. All I want to do is capture footage, is that so hard? Why Apple, why have you broken QT? Why don’t some cameras work and others do? Please, someone, help us. I don’t know what to do other than just borrow another camera and hope that one works and doesn’t break for no good reason. I just want to edit and clear all these damn tapes off my desk. |

So the chronicles of suck continue. Last night I borrowed a cheap miniDV camera from work to see if I can at least capture footage. I plugged the camera in, booted QT, held my breath, and miracle of miracles, it worked. I popped in the first tape, captured it in Final Cut without any issues, and popped in the second tape. That one captured perfectly too. I was elated. Finally I would be able to capture the footage I so desperately need to capture so that I can edit all of our backlogged show footage. The second tape finished capturing and I hit eject.
