Plato’s Cave Projector

I worked [toiled?] for three years in the same windowless cinder block room doing effects for feature films. The second most depressing thing about it was the darkness. The first most depressing was the gigantic swamp cooler on the other side of that wall that was so noisy and powerful that it actually distorted the images on our CRT monitors and prevented cellphone signals from getting through. But the Reveal Light cannot help with that, it can only give the illusion of a nice window on walls that have none. It is really not very difficult to explain what it does, it shines a light through a gobo and creates a light/shadow pattern that looks vaguely like a window on the wall. This one is via Uberreview, but I got it from Gizmowatch who found it on Engadget who read it on Sci Fi Tech who got it from Uberreview. Sometimes I think blogging is silly.

Jeff K has something a bit like that. It’s a blue light with a gobo that has a small twig/plant inside the glass. It looks pretty cool.
