Plotbot!(beta!) is an interesting little web app. that I found via Stumbleupon; itself a great web app. Plotbot allows several people to collaboratively write a script at the same time, right in their web browser windows. Using AJAX, the site allows users to simultaneously add, modify, and annotate any part of the script without having to perform a full page reload. At any point you can save the document out as a RTF or XML document and continue writing it off-line. Your script is encoded and broken into pieces on the database to ensure its security, and the database is backed up nightly, which is probably more often than your own computer. Heck, they even help you choose and apply a copyright and license type to the script. Based on the manner that several of our more recent scripts have been made for the AV Club (via AIM), I will definitely be looking into this service.
When I browsed through the “about” tab I saw that Plotbot is made by two fellow USC film grads; if anyone knows exactly who “Brad” and “STAR” are, let me know, I wonder if I knew them. But in the meantime, what do you folks think about this app? Anything you’d want to see added/removed?
