You regular visitors may have noticed something different just happened around here. The AV Club site just went v2.5. Visually, a lot is the same, but there are also massive changes, some are obvious, others are more subtle.
- The biggest change is that all of our videos are now 640×480. Why? Because we wanted them to be. And because the iPod supports larger videos, and watching video on a postage stamp is lame. And 640×480 is broadcast resolution for you lamewads still watching standard def, so our vids can now play full screen and not be scaled (if you watch them on a TV).
- You might also notice that this blog is much more tightly integrated throughout the site, making our lives easier by centralizing information. Now when we have exciting news we just have to blog it, and it will appear in all of the applicable places on the site.
- The “Shows” tab is gone entirely, because our live shows and our video series are kind of the same thing, so we condensed the two tabs into one. In doing so, the layout of the videos section has been modified to better inform you as to what each show is about, and how to get the videos any way you want them.
- The individual video pages are a lot different now too- we changed the layout to make room for our new lovely large videos, but you may notice that some of them now have embed code too! If we have a video on Youtube or Revver, you can easily grab the code for your own site right from us- we do all the hard work so you don’t have to!
- We have also made subscribing to our podcasts way easier with tons of rss links, how-tos for anyone who doesn’t know how to do it, and a huge subscription section on the front page. (theres one per project, and one that is a ‘best of’ for all of our videos).
This is really just a quick overview of the new changes, go poke around and see what you can find! Let us know what you think, even if its not good we need to hear it because we aren’t making this stuff for ourselves, we’re making it to entertain you. Oh, and if you spot an error or typo or bug on the site, we’ll give you something!
