The Riot Wheel

It may be slow, but it is also interesting and cool. The Riot Wheel is a Burning Man project from a few years ago that I read about when it was created, but thanks to Hacked Gadgets you can now see it in motion. The wheel is a unicycle that has an engine, a gyroscope, and control mechanisms entirely contained inside the wheel. The driver sits on a self-balancing seat at the front. This is version 1, apparently ver. 2 is under construction and will be driven by an electric motor powered by a gasoline generator, and it will be faster, lighter, and way more maneuverable than this version. I look forward to seeing it in action; this version is mildly reminiscent of a fascinating giant mechanical snail in a lot of ways.
