‘Till touch down brings me round again

X-Wing

The fine folks over at the Tripoli San Diego Rocket Club (and “Polecat Aerospace“) have completed work on their X-Wing fighter rocket (yes rocket, as in model rocketry) and are preparing for its maiden launch this weekend.

X-Wing

The rocket includes collapsing wings (which are open during takeoff, and collapse for landing), and a rotating radio-controlled R2-D2 head (complete with sound).

The launch takes place this weekend (10/6/2007) at the Plaster Blaster rocketry event in Plaster City, CA. This year, the event will be Star Wars themed, and there will be hundreds of themed and non-themed rockets.
