In the time between Thursday night and Sunday night this past week, The AV Club produced three original shorts. This is by far our most productive burst ever, and so much happened that I do not think I can do justice to it in one blog entry. I think I will just write a ‘behind the scenes’ on each of the three as they hit the web, that way the info has a video to go with it. Until they are done being edited, I will just give you a quick sneak peek overview of what we shot.

The first short was produced from initial idea to filming in under 24 hours, and was the first short not directed by me, which was great. I did star in it at the last minute because we could not get anyone else appropriate for the role on such short notice. Chris is also in it. It should be pretty darn good, it is topical and funny. The rough cut is being assembled as you read this.

The second video was one of the most enjoyable filmmaking experiences of my life. The sort of dream shoot where everything goes well, everyone has fun, and all of your ideas just come together. We shot most of it on Saturday and picked up the rest in a few hours on Sunday; all-in-all it was 8.5pgs, and we got just over 2.5hrs of footage. It all looks great and I am so excited to get into the thick of editing and just play around with it all. It is by far our biggest video to date, and I can’t wait to release it for you all to see. The sooner the better… just need more time to edit.

The third video was another installment for our new web series “Psycho Bob”. I had wanted to shoot two Bob’s on Sunday, but with the shoot from Saturday needing pickups, and a sudden change of plans causing us to have to drive 45mins to a different beach, we just did not have time. The footage we got is great, the edit should be nice and easy, and I think it will be a very good little short. We still have to shoot more of them before we can start running the series, so that one is on the shelf for a little while more.

So there it is. I will post detailed descriptions of the production with the posting of the video itself, so expect much better detail from me on these shorts later.
